Recent Timeouts
By Jonah on 21 November 2009 @ 01:14PM
Apologies for the recent timeouts. I agree that the recent performance is not very good at all. There was a recent problem with the server, that I’ve rectified.
I’ll be keeping a much closer eye on it now.
Please let me know if you get any timeouts and I’ll sort them out asap.

Version 2
By Jonah on 02 June 2009 @ 09:25AM
The engine means that we’ll be able to support many more variations of chess. Let us know here if you want to play any particular variations.
Other changes
- Moving to Glicko rating
- Abandonment will be a loss
- Built in forums
- Friends List
- Facebook style Activity
- Bulk invite from Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo
- Faster / more stable (no more Server Unobtainable!)
As a phase 2 we’d like to add in Timed/Sealed Games and Tournaments.
If you have any other major or minor wishes – let us know ….
Feature wishlist ?
By Jonah on 28 March 2008 @ 05:17PM
Hi
I’m rewriting the underlying engine to 64squar.es with some exciting new features. They will stay secret for now – don’t want to spoil the reveal, but it’s probably a good idea to ask everyone:
What features would you like to add to 64squar.es ?
Which bits could do with some refinement ? – what would it be ?
Note – I already have time controls on the list. I will try and accommodate the ideas in the new Engine.

Timing Controls Proposal
By Jonah on 06 February 2008 @ 11:44AM
Hi this is what I am proposing for time controls.
For a game, each player has a clock set at X. Every move that is made by a player, Y will be added to the clock. There is also an abandonment interval F within which a game must be unsealed.
X is measured in minutes with X>= 1
Y is measured in seconds with Y>= 0
F is measured in days with F>=0
When a move is made and the opponent is not located at the board, the game becomes sealed and will show the board before the move. to all players other than the move-maker and will be marked as Sealed.
The game becomes unsealed when the opponent goes to the board. He has F days to do this or the option to abandon (and win) the game will become available to his opponent.
Once unsealed, the game can no longer be abandoned, but the users game clock will start (or continue) counting down. If a players clock runs to zero, the game is lost by that player.
If a player is at the board when the opponent moves, the board is automatical
